Let's get you feeling better.
It takes work, but the work works.
Somatic Therapy is a way to heal and transform what isn't working in your life in and through the body. It is like talk therapy, but deeper, more wholistic, multi-dimensional and heart and body centric.
Somatic Therapy can help transform overwhelm and anxiety, stress, sleep issues, soul seeking, parenting issues, career questioning, relationship issues, body-image issues, food or screen addictions and ancestral burdens.
I have over 20 years of training and continuing education in body-based approaches, trauma care and ethical practice and 12 years of experience facilitating this work. As your practitioner, I offer a wholistic, body-centric, spiritual deep dive container and a safe relationship for you to heal.
We rewire and upgrade your inner life (mind, body heart & soul). I use specialized tools that go beyond talk therapy like grounding techniques, nervous system regulation, breath work, yoga, mindfulness skills and body-centered Internal Family Systems (IFS), or Parts Work.
Somatic Therapy and Coaching is for all shapes and sizes, all gender identities and physical abilities, for those who already have experience and for those who have never tried it before.

I'm Lara Holmes, MA, LCMHC, RSMT, E-RYT, a Somatic Therapist in Southern VT and Somatic Healing Coach worldwide. Somatic Therapy is my life's work and passion. My healing journey began in India at age 19 (over 20 years ago) where I studied Yoga and became a Registered Yoga Teacher. Then, as a client and student of Somatic Therapy in my early 20's onward, including earning a MA in psychology and counseling and becoming a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (in VT) it has always been like no-other. The multi-dimensional, all encompassing, body, mind, heart and soul level unburdening and inspiration I have gone through and continue to go through leads me on this path as a life-long practitioner. It is my honor to practice this profession.

I believe that healing and wellness are the key to a happy and healthy life. I am completely and utterly a self-growth and health nerd and my life is centered around healing and wellness practices, as a parent, step-parent, wife, friend and as a professional. That's why I started my business, to help people achieve their healing and wellness goals.

When we develop an intimate relationship with our inner life, we have the opportunity to become friends with ourselves, to catch those inner critical voices sooner or to change those sneaky slippery patterns of doing too much or blaming our loved ones for our feelings. As soon as we can take radical self-responsibility for how we are feeling, how our relationships are playing out and how our life is going, we have a lot of choice points and power to create change. As we uncover who we are and what the old patterns are that have been running us, this new space opens up for choosing the new patterns, of self-love.
Most of us are run by our minds, raised in a culture that teaches such ways of being (or thinking) as it were. As clients engage in Somatic Therapy (and the in between session wellness work and support), they tend to start feeling connected to the body in new and life giving ways. They prioritize their bodies. They practice more nervous system regulation, are more careful and loving with what they are putting into their bodies, take time and space to move their bodies everyday. The activities that tend to numb the body become decentralized (caffeine/alcohol cycles, screens, shopping, any addiction) and life becomes more focused on wellness and health. Walks, talks, cooking, meditation, nature, tai-chi, rest and naps are some examples. Moreover, Somatic Therapy clients learn how to listen to the body when it speaks. After all the body and the nervous system, our emotions through the body are communicating with us all the time! and as we include the bodies voice in our day to day lives, everything feels clearer, richer, more meaningful and connected, fulfilling, even magical. Its a beautiful process!
We all have emotional patterns that run us. They are connected to the self belief systems we have internalized usually during childhood, adolescence and earlier in adulthood. They are connected to our nervous system patterns and our behavioral patterns. As we understand how its all connected and start to dismantle the blind spots and blocks that are causing harm inside us, we develop a deeper understanding of our emotional landscape and what we need when we are encountering our old patterns. We practice the desired shifting and we practice it again. Eventually we carve out a new neural pathway, a new nervous system and a new emotional landscape where self-love is at the center and the emotions that used to run us are cared for and supported when they do arise. It's not that we become enlightened. We just get much quicker at supporting and shifting the tides when disregulation does come in.
50 minutes - $200.00
Some folks prefer to work from session to session. My preference is for clients to buy a package of sessions in order to provide a container and commitment for the work to happen.
50 minutes x 3 = $570.00
This is a way to really get a sense of what your inner work is and get started with the inner and outer transformations that are needed.
I'm currently developing a program for 1:1 and groups for new therapists and seasoned professionals wanting to bring somatic work into their talk therapy offerings.
50 minutes x 10 = $1800.00
Diving in with a 10 pack is a way to say YES to your healing journey. This is a 10-24 ish week gift to yourself and commitment depending on how frequently we meet. You should feel significant clarity with your process and small or large shifts in your inner and outer life. Clients often buy a second 10 pack after their first 10 pack.
I'm moving away from accepting health insurance. This is for many reasons, including my desire for a direct exchange between me and my clients. When a client (myself included) pays directly for somatic therapy services the work tends to be more committed, focused, integrated, present and holistic.
I am working on the creation of a client portal where you will be able to listen to somatic therapy and parts work meditations, watch instructional yoga videos, participate in group accountability calls, courses and programs and meet with other providers to round out your support. Stay tuned!

Somatic Therapists often complete additional certifications, trauma training and continuing education. You're working with someone who's deeply skilled in body-based healing.
Somatic work is often slower, deeper, and more focused. Therapists may see fewer clients per day to provide the best care.
Somatic therapy isn't "one size fits all." It's a process of co-regulation, presence, and fine tuned pacing. That kind of attunement requires emotional and professional labor behind the scenes.
Many clients use what they learn in somatic sessions for life. The tools for grounding, regulating your nervous system and responding to your emotions are transformative and long-lasting.
